SFD Volunteers Treat Summerfest Visitors an Extrication Demo

Each year Sayville Fire Department volunteers treat Sayville Summerfest visitors to a demo of their auto extrication techniques. As rescuers used air bags to lift the car off the victim that was trapped beneath the car and used hydraulic and hand tools to extricate the victim from the rear seat of the car, Ex-Chief Robert Chester gave the audience a play-by-play account of the work being demonstrated and an overview of the tools being used. Sayville Community Ambulance volunteers were also on hand and participated in the demo.
